Assalam Aliekum Warahmatu Allahi Wabarakatahu – May peace, blessings, and mercy of Allah be upon you all …
Allow me to begin by briefly acquainting you about me. I’m Al Tahir, or more commonly known as “Tahir” for short. I have never been a keen blogger. Neither have I had an interest in maintaining a web log. During my early years, I was a talented writer. Keep in mind “was”, and there are many reasons to my decline. I resided at a location just opposite a library. Coming from an educated family, whose priority in life was based around their offspring’s upbringing, I was took to the library to spend my free times there, reading various books and articles, in contrast to the typical children. I excelled in the English language at a very young age.
However, growing up, no sooner had I became fascinated with other aspects of life, than the educational side to it. Which is natural, as a kid being brought up in a society where entertainment pays. I gradually lost interest in reading, as a result. This had a direct impact in my steady demise of the Arabic language, which I too mastered. Years passed by, before I began to regret some of my decisions in the past. I was determined not to allow my efforts to simply go down the drain. I soon remodelled my life. It became balanced, and my knowledge of the languages began to rebound, and once again, I established myself as an Bi-linguist. I have simply summarized, what would have been a long topic into my past. We move on …
I’m a deep thinker. Being such, does not automatically imply I posses an abysmal understanding of the subject in hand. Below are a few examples I would like to provide you of my view and definition of “deep thinker”, as of the following:
- Understanding the interconnectedness: few (if any) things live in isolation. Press here and it affects things over there, and they in turn affect things down there, and so forth. A shallow thinker does not fully realize the impact of a decision or action on other things. A shallow thinker just looks at first-order effects (i.e. “press here and it affects things over there”; that’s as far as the shallow thinker goes, he doesn’t continue with how “the things over there in turn affect things down there, and so forth”). Conversely, a deep thinker looks at the whole chain of impacts.
- Read a book once and you have a shallow understanding. Read a book multiple times, take notes, summarize each key concept … Now you have a deep understanding.
- Many things have general characteristics. For example, Democrats are in general pro-life and the Republicans are in general pro-choice. Making a decision or judgment based on generalities is shallow thinking. Making a decision or judgment based on specifics is deep thinking. For example, judging a politician based on the party he belongs to is shallow thinking; judging based on his specific viewpoints is deep thinking.
The diverse issues I will dive into, will be discussed with a mind unshackled by parti pris or superstition, by ignorance or false hopes. I have derived the materials from my very own thoughts, analysis, conclusions, and the time spent pondering over issues which have enabled me to reach a firm evaluation and understanding of the matter. I strive to be independent, and that is reflected in the basis everything you see, will be solely based on my own work, unless stated otherwise. I trust that it will be followed by the research work of the reader, to allow the individual to judge for themselves, and to decide regarding the decision they make concerning their agreement or disagreement to my articles.
Lastly … As much as I’m looking forward to be informed of your agreement pertaining to my blog entry, I am equally happy to read any negative feedback’s and criticism. No comments left will be deleted. This absolutely contrasts my moral principles. Instead, I will consider and think through your remarks, before submitting a response. I genuinely hope at the end of reading, you will at least be able to wholeheartedly believe, “I have learned something new”. One of my main objectives is to benefit the reader. I will attempt to keep my posts interesting and worthwhile. I will present articles dealing with matters concerning aspects of social “on-line” life, Religion, Muslim affairs in particular, Arabs, my life as well as others, work, finance, and various other topics and experience as I travel throughout this life. I sincerely wish that you enjoy and stick around for the foreseeable future. I will wrap-up this by leaving you with an advice, I desire you to pay heed too;
Do not read to contradict and refute, nor to believe and take it for granted, but to weigh and consider.
Examine what is said, not him who speaks.
We know that the price of seeking to force our beliefs on others is that they might someday force theirs on us. – Mario Cuomo
